The gear is durable and weather-resistant and designed for repeated adventures. With care, many items can be used as kids grow into adulthood! Try doing the same activities in different locations, weather, or seasons for a totally different experience. We love to experiment with the kits in the backyard and the backcountry! 5. Can this kit be used all year round and in any season?
Yes! This kit is built for year-round use with activities adaptable to any season; you will find activities in the Field Guide for sun, rain, snow, and mud. The compass is built to withstand temperatures as low as -10°C / 14°F.
6. What happens if my compass needle stops pointing North?
Sometimes compass needles can lose their magnetism or become misaligned, affecting accuracy. Magnetic objects (even your phone!) can affect a compass needle.
Aligning the Needle: Often, just recalibrating by aligning it in an open area without magnetic interference can do the trick.
Re-Magnetizing the Needle: Using a strong magnet, carefully stroke the needle in one direction a few times to restore magnetism.
