Wild | Life x Mustard Seed Camp For Hope Fundraiser
It's time for the second annual Camp for Hope Weekend!
This year, Wild | Life has teamed up with a local group The Mustard Seed, that serves AB and BC to help provide nutritious food, safe shelter, and life-changing services to vulnerable neighbours.
Camp for Hope takes place on August 21st and 22nd. Are you ready to camp out and pitch in to help neighbours in need? You can register for free or HELP US by donating to our fundraiser page: SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL HERE
Why Camp for Hope?
For some, camping out in a tent is a privilege. For others, it may be their last resort. Too many of our neighbours lack safe shelter, nutritious food, and the health and wellness services that can turn their lives around. Especially now, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, they need our support. You can help when you Camp for Hope!
Join a great adventure for a great cause. When you Camp for Hope, you’ll help provide nutritious food, safe shelter, and life-changing services to vulnerable neighbours — all while making memories that will last a lifetime!
Talking to your kids about homelessness
Camping out can be a great opportunity to talk to your kids about empathy and understanding of vulnerable neighbours who may not have a place to call home. After they've packed their "Bear Essentials" gear and learned about how to pack - ask questions like;
"imagine if you had to fit everything you owned in your backpack?"
"Do you think you could fit it all in?"
"How much would it weigh?"
"How long could you carry it around for?"
How to get your kids involved
- A smile goes a long way. Acknowledge your unsheltered neighbours with a wave or hello.
- Go with your kids to distribute granola bars and water on a weekend afternoon
- During winter, collect extra clothes, rain gear, or blankets and socks and deliver them to a local shelter
- Check wit a local shelter or food bank for volunteer opportunities
